BUSY DAY FOR THE BMW MOTORRAD GOLDBET SBK TEAM IN IMOLA |

 The BMW Motorrad GoldBet SBK Team concludes its home round at Imola with both factory riders claiming their best results at the Italian track to date. Local hero, Marco Melandri finished both of today's races at the "Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari" in fourth on his BMW S 1000 RR. His team-mate Chaz Davies claimed sixth and fifth respectively. After seven rounds of the 2013 FIM Superbike World Championship, Marco is fourth in the riders' championship with 182 points, directly followed by Chaz with 154 points. In the Manufacturers' classification, BMW is currently third with 237 points. Both races today were won by Tom Sykes. The BMW Motorrad GoldBet SBK Team will stay at Imola and attend tomorrow's official Dorna test. |

It was a dream day for the BMW Motorrad GoldBet SBK Team at the Spanish track of Motorland Aragón. Factory rider, Chaz Davies was the man to beat at the second round of the 2013 FIM Superbike World Championship after the Welshman won both races on his BMW S 1000 RR. He made the best use of his front row start and celebrated his first ever double-victory in the series. His team mate Marco Melandri, who started from eighth, jumped on the podium in third place in race one. In the second race, Marco finished fifth. In the Riders' championship, Chaz has now climbed into second place with 63 points, while Marco sits in fourth with 43 points. In the Manufacturers' classification, BMW lies in second with 79 points.

It was a day to remember for the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team today at the Aragón circuit in Spain, as Marco Melandri followed up a second place in race one with a superb victory in race two. In collecting 45 championship points out of a maximum 50, the Italian rider moved from fourth to second place in the points standings and reignited his 2012 Superbike World Championship challenge.

An amazing performance by Marco Melandri on the works S 1000 RR at today's Superbike World Championship round at Miller Motorsport's Park saw the Italian rider take a win and a second place to catapult him into second place in the points, just 18 behind leader Max Biaggi.
Race one saw Melandri burst through from ninth on the grid up into third place. The Donington Park race winner passed Carlos Checa at the beginning of lap two and took the lead on lap five, passing Tom Sykes in the process. With the now familiar sight of a BMW S 1000 RR leading a WSBK race, Melandri knew his main threat would come from Miller specialist Checa, already a four-times race winner at the American circuit.
